Objective: To determine the coefficient of static and kinetic friction between the block and the lab table; to determine whether or not the experimental data fit the normal distribution curve Data: mass of the wooden block = 0.125 kg mass of the heavy weight 1 = 0.494 kg mass of the heavy weight 2 = 0.499 kg number of measurements = 35 Part 1 Static Friction Kinetic Friction Average Force 3.846 N 2.337 N Standard Deviation 0.5624 N 0.3269 N Uncertainty 0.0951 N 0.0553 N Part 2 Static Friction Kinetic Friction Average Force 2.119 N 1.258 N Standard Deviation 0.2415 N 0.1836 N Uncertainty 0.0408 N 0.0310 N Data analysis: 1. Calculate the mass of the system (the mass of the cart + mass of all washers + mass of the hook) using the slope from graph #1. In order to get the mass of the system, you need to apply Newton's second law. Remember that the slope of the graph does not necessarily equal to the value you calculate!!!! For this section you just need to provide a formula which relates the slope and the mass. While doing substitution, show units. Write down the answer with units.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
