Specialized Nature of Perception Blind sightedness - Prosopagnosia People have intact visual perception but are unable to process faces normally - Capgras delusion Intact visual face recognition but impaired visual emotional processing (not being able to know that you know your mother is your mother & then deducing that they are their imposters) - Change Blindness We caught our brain making guesses about what's really happening out there Gorilla & card video This is called change blindness : inability to detect changes in successively presented stimuli Watched video of people switching places while asking for directions - Why is change blindness important? Our intuition that we track visual details of our environment is illusory. How we perceive he world is shaped by our task goals (and thus attention (both cognitive attention & visual attention). It literally impacts our perception Our brain makes continuity assumptions without checking all the details to confirm these assumptions.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
