Chamberlain College of Nursing NR505 Advanced Research Methods: Evidenced Based Practice Week 5 Assignment: Data Collection Methodology and Analysis Guidelines P URPOSE This assignment provides the opportunity for the student to continue development of a MSN EBP scholarly project that started with the identification of a nursing issue, creation of the PICOT question, determining the research approach, literature review, and type of sampling. The focus of this assignment is to identify an appropriate data collection methodology and analysis. C OURSE O UTCOMES This assignment enables the student to meet the following course outcome: CO#4 Develop knowledge related to research and evidence-based practice as a basis for designing and critiquing research studies (PO 1, 2, 6, 9) D UE D ATE Sunday 11:59 PM MT at the end of Week Five T OTAL P OSSIBLE P OINTS : 80 P OINTS R EQUIREMENTS Description of the Assignment This continues the development of a MSN scholarly research project by requiring the student to identify the data collection methodology and analysis. Criteria for Content 1. Data Collection Methodology: Select and respond to the criteria consistent with research approach selected for use in the project. Analysis: Select and respond to the criteria consistent with research approach selected for use in the project. For quantitative data analysis: Explain the data analysis for the study: Descriptive analysis---what descriptive statistics do you expect to be used to describe the sample o Frequency distribution o Central tendency o Variability Bivariate Statistics—which of the following bivariate statistics would be used, if any: o Crosstabulation o Correlation o Describing risk o t -tests o ANOVA For qualitative data analysis: Explain how content analysis will occur for the appropriate qualitative design tradition selected for the project: o Participant observation o In-depth interviews o Focus groups o Historical documents Explain the desired outcome of the data analysis based upon the qualitative research approach
