9/27/17 Prompt 2: Accomplishment/Quality
A personal quality that is important to me is sincerity- being free from pretense, deceit, or
hypocrisy. For me, this definition is expanded to include putting genuine effort into everything I
attempt as well as doing what I can for others. Sincerity does mean honesty, yes, but it doesn’t
necessarily mean disclosing everything on one’s mind. It means that your words and free of lies
and malignance. It means that your actions are not born out of a desire to benefit; rather, your
actions are born of pure intentions with the best in mind for everyone, not just yourself.
Embodying sincerity in your everyday life means telling someone the truth when they need to
hear it and helping others out of goodwill.
In my daily life, I have made a conscious effort to live sincerely and it has eventually
transformed into a permanent quality that I possess. I always speak from my heart, and what may
seem to others to be empty compliments have meaning to me. What may come across as excuses
are honest reasons for my actions, and though they may not seem valid to others, they are valid
to me. My intentions are never to manipulate or distort one’s perceptions. Helping people and
making others happy is something that gives me genuine enjoyment and I strive to do it every
chance I get. I’ve received many comments from others that I overachieve at work or am so nice
because of the benefits I could reap, such as recognition from my boss and being liked by others. However, that is not the case and these qualities are second nature to me; I tend to put others
above myself almost out of habit and rarely consider what I could get out of things. The effort I
put into what I attempt isn’t about the rewards, it stems from an intrinsic motivation to always
