Characteristics and distribution of marine sediments and their interpretation. Objectives and Learning Outcomes: This course is designed to introduce you to the geologic features of the ocean basins, their origin and evolution in time. We will cover both the origin of the oceanic lithosphere and ocean basins as the result of Earth's internal tectonic processes, and subsequent changes due to sedimentation, changes in ocean and atmospheric conditions, and biological activity.
