Research Topic – unit 2 – How antilock brakes work- Nigel Chui Antilock brakes, also known as ABS, are a safety system built into modern cars and trucks. Antilock brakes are designed to keep the wheels traction and ensure that they don’t freeze on slippery surfaces where the vehicle is still moving, but the wheels aren’t. Antilock brakes are used, because when the wheels lock up, it is very dangerous which can result in spinning, control loss, skidding, and car accidents.
