Title: The Use and Effect of Interpersonal Communication in Business Purpose: I. Introduction: Courtney (summary) A. Attention getter- Communication is essential to human life. B. Background information- Merriam Webster def. of interpersonal and communications, combined def. C. Credibility statement (Your group’s credibility)- It is important to realize interpersonal communication isn’t some strange and foreign concept... D. Thesis statement (Central Idea) – Interpersonal Communication is most effective through the use of face-to-face communications (especially those in the workplace), nonverbal actions such as body language, and the positive responses from speaking to another person. Transition In business, communication is ideal. Without it, your business may crash and not be functionable. II. Body Sub-Point One- Izzy Main point #1 (Topic Sentence) Both customer service and interpersonal communication skills are necessary to make a business function. a. Support- important parts of overall business b. Support- may lack decent sales and happy customers (Forbes) businesses lost $62 billion, $20 billion more than 2013 c. Support- not more important than another d. Analysis- Tropical Smoothie Transition/Signpost B. Main point #2- Customer Service a. Support- Listen to customer, strive to address their needs/concerns b. Support- should be polite, sincere, and knowledgeable c. Support- should be understanding, apologetic, and try to solve ASAP d. Analysis- Difference between customer service and interpersonal communication C. Main point #3- Interpersonal Communication
