Review Questions 1. What are three things that all human cultures have in common? All human cultures vary greatly, however there are certain things that are found in every culture: communicating with language, marrying and raising children, and creating art. 2. List examples of material culture that fulfill basic human needs. Material culture is the good that people make and the technology used to make the goods. The examples of this that fulfill human needs are food, clothing, and shelter. 3. What are values? Give an example of a value. Values are things that people think are important to them. Values may or may not be different from one culture to another. An example of a value from the reading is that Native Americans share a value that everyone should live in harmony with nature. 4. State one way that people learn their own culture. People usually take in the beliefs of the culture they are growing up in, this is called enculturation. One of the ways enculturation occurs is through direct teaching.
