Peace Studies, Human Rights Green Political Theory Introduction Over the past few years, a less significant, but vital topic based on International Relations was introduced. The topic was to deal with the inter-country and trans-boundary problems. This is what later became to be known as the “The Green Political Theory.” The theory is much radical when compared to the other International Relations theories. In addition, the theory is inspired by factors that are outside the purview of the International Relations Theory. This has led to an increment in the awareness on the ecological blindness of other International Relations theory. Seminal Writings From the critical writings, the theory has become a movement that is against the environmental issues that are the unexpected outcomes arising from other acceptable human practices. Also, the writings enable one to identify the environmental problems plaguing the world in a different perspective from how Neoliberalists, Realists, and other critical theorist view them. To be precise, the realists believe that there is a constant struggle existing between various States globally and that the environmental issues do not play any role in contributing to national security. The Neoliberalism preachers acknowledge the environmental problems affecting their countries, and they develop strategies to tweak the existing incentive structures. This is to promote peaceful co- existence in their countries of origin and other neighboring States. On the other hand, the Critical theorists are against the school of thought, which involves solution designing. They believe that such designs do not take into account the economic and social structures of the State. From that context, the Green Political Theory has its concepts based on ecological distribution of risks, needs and wants of the yet to come generations, and studies on non-human nature. There is an Ecological Modernization concept, which states that any technological advancement, economic growth, or even innovation ought to take place by employing steps that consume fewer resources and energy. In addition, the wastes produced per unit of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) should be minimal. Each country is expected to have a program on environmental governance that ensures the modernization of its economy is done with little exploitation of the available resources Case Study A case study focusing on the relationship between green politics and its sustainability has revealed that many disciplines integrated with empirical and practical research are essential in articulating the uniqueness of ecologism as a philosophy. This means that the theory promotes the re-organization of the global political economy to incorporate economic exchange and production, which utilizes resources. In other words, the theory is against the commons and enclosures, but it wants to develop where there is no existence of the commons. Therefore, the theory is founded on decentralization of resources. However, several arguments have been made against these premises, and they
