The stability of the atmosphere has an essential role in the vertical growth of the cumulonimbus clouds. When the cumulus cloud reaches very high in the atmosphere, it will reach a point where it will be difficult to get any higher. However, Uplift of the air may continue several kilometers before losing buoyancy, forming large towering clouds called cumulonimbus.
