Post #2 (worth 30 points) - Using 3M Coding & Reimbursement System, specifically the references area, locate the ICD-10 MS-DRGs Definitions Manual. Next, review the following articles: 1) Defining the Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MS-DRGs) and 2) Design and development of the Diagnosis Related Group (DRGs). Identify ten key concepts that you learned from reading these articles. The Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups is defined by a particular set of patient attributes which include prinicpla diagnosis, specific secondary diagnoses, procedures, sex and discharge status. For each Major Diagnostic Category there is a logic table depicting the MS-DRG structure, a listing of all the ICD-10-CM diagnoses assigned to the Major Diagnostic Category, and a detailed description of patient attribute which define each MS-DRG. Each logic table specifics in its colums specific conditions which determine the MS-DRG assigned and the rows specify individual MS-DRGs. The cells indicate whether a specific condition in the colum is necessary for the MS-DRG in the row to be assigned. The description of the patient attributes includes the MS-DRG number and a brief description of the MS-DRG. A series of heading follow the description, which indicates the patient
