5 Leadership across cultures One of the biggest reasons why I read this paper is because of its practical uses. The author compares the culture between oriental and western as well as oriental itself, which gives me a full vision of how leadership should change among different nations. Since nowadays more and more MNCs pop up, traditional opinions towards changeless leadership over companies have been replaced by multiple methods to operate companies in different regions. That is, the manager cannot casually choose the styles they want but should greatly consider the culture factors in order to meet responses of his subordinates from different culture. What I am still interested in is that, although we all know that oriental culture differs a lot from the western one, actually nations belonging to East Asian culture, one of the oriental cultures as well, also show substantial difference among countries. For example, the author mentions the “harmony” between China and Japan. In China,
