SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT:ALGORITHMS Algorithms fall under the design state of the System Development Life Cycle It helps designers understand what the program must do and be able to convert the algorithm into code It describes the sequence of steps that the program will carry out, as well as any inputs and outputs. Pseudo-code – uses a combination of formal (structured) English and programming key words Flow charts – Uses a diagram to show processes, inputs and outputs etc.

PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES The overall purpose of all Programming Languages are to give the CPU instructions Programming Languages use different syntax but have many similarities (in terms of containing variables, data types, the 3 control structures etc…) Different Languages are designed for different applications and sometimes the choice comes down to personal preference. For Web Development JavaScript – Client side programming language Java – commonly used for web apps & android apps PHP – Server side programming language Python – General purpose, can be used for web apps ASP – Active Server Pages.
