Methods To determine the % solution of the unknown, use multiple % solutions of glucose, a spectrometer, and the benedict’s test to create a linear fit line. First, create 5 different % solutions of glucose using the 2% solution and diluting it into a 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2% by adding the appropriate amount of distilled water to each solution as shown below to create 4ml of solution. Then take 2ml of each solution and put it into its own labeled beaker. Add 1 ml of Benedict’s solution to each one, stir it, and put it in boiling water for 3 mins. After 5 minutes of cooling, put each solution through the spectrometer and record the data and create a linear fit line using Logger Pro. In Logger Pro, the axis will be labeled ‘Percent Solution’ for the x and ‘absorption’ for y. The spectrometer will be calibrated to distilled water. Do the Benedict’s test again for the unknown solution and put it through the spectrometer. Using the collected data and the linear fit line previously determined I will calculate the exact % solution of glucose in the unknown solution.

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
