BUS ADM 748 HW 5 CH9 Exercise 5: Describe a situation where it would be appropriate to use each of the six leadership styles described by Daniel Goleman Visionary: A situation where a visionary style would be needed is when a new business is being set up. This method often this allows for more experimentation to find a method that allows for the most growth of a company. Coaching: An appropriate application of this would be a mentorship or an internship, where there are only one or two individuals who could receive on-on-one attention. Affiliative: This method could be applied after a mass layoff, where employees do not have a sense of loyalty and morale is low. Democratic: This would be best leadership method for a project that has a tentative completion date and time can be taken to bounce ideas off one another. Pacesetting: A situation where this should be used is for a well-established team. A manager who has had some time to work with everyone on the team and know they are able to perform at a high level.
