WASA ORVERVIEW The WATER AND SURAGE AUTHORITY known as WASA is the sole water company that oversees the distribution of pipe borne water to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. WASA is also in charge of running and the upgrading of pipelines throughout the country. Vision To be the best performing water utility in the Western Hemisphere. Mission To be a leading provider of water and wastewater services. To deliver customer service along the highest internationally recognised and accepted standards. To continuously develop best business practices utilizing advanced technology and a well- developed and motivated workforce. To leverage on industry expertise to offer global water and wastewater services To sustain a commercialised business while remaining sensitive to our stakeholders and our environment. 3

Strengths Existing distribution and sales network Market Cash cow as it’s the only company in the sector Sole Company for the upgrading and distributing of services Full control over daily and strategic decision making. Weaknesses Weak human resource policies and management. Weak organizational mandate. Weak public relations with customers. Destroys public roadways without repairing. Weak information service system. Opportunities Growth rates and profitability. Build a better customer relations between company and customers. Implementation of new bill payment and reporting errors with service. Provide water utilities to a wider range of customers. Create a new information system service to meet new and old customer demands. Threats Increasing costs with living expenses on the rise. Government rules and regulation because of being a state-owned entity. Technological problems throughout the industry. Solution The solution that we came up with to solve these issues that exist with the current system is to create a new ICT information system that would increase the public relation with the public and the company along with adding new capabilities for customers with bill payments and reporting issues with the service. 5

Business Case The main reason behind this project is that the company wants to restore faith within new and old customers due to the fact the that, public relations between customers and the company has been strained over the past couple of years. The project’s main priority is to create a new information system that would allow a host of new features, that allows for customers to pay bills or report problems with the service. It also creates for the company a better way in keeping tabs on customer’s accounts as well other internal company information. The brand-new
