UNiT 2 TeXT QUeSTiONS Text Questions 1. What are the four body types in William H. Sheldon’s somatotyping? Describe each body type and identify which one sheldon believed was related to delinquency and crime. The four body types are endomorphs, ectomorphs, mesomorphs, and balanced individuals. Endomorphs are overweight and have a large stomach. Ectomorphs are individuals that are thin and frail. Mesomorphs have abnormally large bone structure or muscle mass. The body type Sheldon believed was related to delinquency and crime is a Mesomorph 2. What personality types did Hans J. Eysenck believe were related to crime? Describe each body type and identify and discuss why Sheldon believed that these were associated with crime. Eysenck believed that Psychoticism, extroverts, and neuroticism personalities are related to crime. Psychoticism is characterized by anti sociability and a lack of empathy. 3. How does self-control theory explain crime? A overall theory of crime theorizes that low self-control is the cause of the inclination toward criminal actions. Specifically, in regard to the theory’s testability, Gottfredson and Hirschi do not describe self-control individually from this tendency.
