Running Head: Scripps Healthcare Abstract Scripps Health is a $2.9 billion private, nonprofit, integrated health system in San Diego, California that is ranked among the top 15 health systems in the nation . Scripps treats 700,000 patients annually [Scr17] . Scripps Health presently acquires 5 acute-care hospitals, more than 23 primary and specialty care outpatient clinics, and home health. Scripps has a large number of affiliated physicians, >2,600, and an average of 13,000 employees [Noe155] . Scripps Healthcare has been named in the 100 Best Companies to work for by Fortunes Magazine, since the year of 2008. The values include providing the highest quality of service, to demonstrate complete respect for the right of every individual, and to care for patients every day in a responsible and efficient manner [Scr17] . Scripps Healthcare meets the criteria for performance appraisals for each criterion including strategic congruence, validity, reliability, acceptability, and specificity, as well as acquires an online appraisal system. 2

Running Head: Scripps Healthcare Criteria for Performance Appraisals There are five criteria for performance appraisals, which include: Strategic Congruence – Extent to which the performance management system elicits job performance that is consistent with organizational strategy, goals, and culture [Noe155]. Validity – extent to which a performance measure assesses all the relevant – and only relevant – aspects of job performance [Noe155], Reliability – performance measure is free from random error and is consistent overtime. Acceptability – extent to which a performance measure is deemed to be satisfactory or adequate by those who use it [Noe155].
