ENG 104 Short Story Final Exam (2 hours) You will be given a list of six questions to write on. Each question will concern only one story. From the list you must choose three questions and write one essay in response to each of the three questions you chose (i.e., you will write three essays). The questions will be of a general and global nature (like the question concerning Winterson's 'The Green Man' – “What is a GM according to the story?”), and concern a central feature of the story that we have discussed in class. You will be presented with a selection of six questions drawn from the following list of eight stories: Hawthorne: ‘The Minister’s Black Veil’ Poe: ‘The Oval Portrait’; The Black Cat’ Susan Glaspell: ‘A Jury of Her Peers’ Joyce: ‘Eveline’; ‘Counterparts’ Ha Jin: 'Saboteur' Winterson: ‘Newton’ Suggestion for exam preparation: My advice is to, first, without consulting the stories, think of three things you recall from the story that are central to it.
