Julian Prodigalidad 00971926 Mr. Del Corso Book Analysis Wu Zhao Book Analysis Ancient Chinese civilizations emphasized male dominance and followed the early Confucian traditions. Women’s work was centered on the household and doing any daily activities that benefited the household as well such as cleaning, watching over children, and food preparation. As stated in Wu Zhao, China’s Only Woman Emperor, “In family temples, male ancestors were esteemed far more highly than their female counterparts.” 1 Women held very little power during Ancient Chinese civilization as we discussed in class. We discussed the importance of male dominance and women simply gave birth and satisfied the household while caring for children, but Zhao changed this traditional belief and became China’s first woman emperor. “The woman radical can be found in the words for slave, jealousy, prostitute, bewitching demon, lasciviousness, lewdity, and fawning, to name a few.” 2 There was only relationships between father and son and brothers, which consisted of all male companions.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
