LESSON PLAN: Writing About Culture Name: Rob Perkovich GENERAL INFORMATION Lesson Title & Subject(s): Writing About Culture Topic or Unit of Study: Culture Grade/Level: 9-12 Instructional Setting: Pre-assessment and one other writing assignment have already been administered and feedback given to students regarding structure, language, and syntax. This assignment will be the first after the pre-assessment to establish any possible growth following pre- assessment feedback. Benchmarks are for improvement (growth) in English writing, not perfection. Class size of (40) 9 th grade students in horseshoe seating arrangement with pathways that allow the teacher to move around and keep students focused and engaged through proximity. This class has ELL students ranging in level from ELL 2-4 STANDARDS, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES Your State Core Curriculum/Student Achievement Standard(s): State Content Standard Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. State Language Standard Writing literary and informational texts to present, describe, and explain ideas and information, using appropriate technology Lesson Goal(s): Using pen and paper, students will be able to produce a writing sample that compares the culture (music, food, religion, people) of their home nation with the people of the United States with 70% proficiency in a 1 hour time limit.
