Surname 1 Name Professor Course Date 1. What ideas did “Manifest Destiny” convey and how did this concept seek to justify expansion/ imperialism/ the American war with Mexico? That America had destiny, manifest in form of self-evidence from the lord to occupy the northern continent. Manifest destiny was also a precise racial nature of white sovereignty that authorized non-white and Native American privileges to any ownership of lands permanently on the continent of North American and vindicated white American in taking the Indian lands. 2. Describe the religious dimensions of “Manifest Destiny” and where such trends of thought being in American history. Those trends mostly came from the emperors of Spanish and the French who approved and provided funding towards the exploration of the “New World” because they perceived it as their divinely chosen task to teach and spread to the New World the religion of Christianity through conversion of natives into Christians.
