Lauren Monaghan, Tues/Thurs 2-3:15, Paper 2 “Memory is critical to everything we do. From the skills we use on daily tasks, to the language we utilize when writing or speaking, and the emotions we feel-all depend on our memory of past experiences and the knowledge attained through them (147,Siegler, 2010).” Without our memories, our identities are lost. Memory plays a large role, if not one of the biggest in our lives and is key when it comes to cognitive developmental theories and information-processing theories. “Most of these theories distinguish among working memory, long-term memory, and executive functions (147,Siegler, 2010). “ “Working memory, our space for active thinking, has a limited capacity. It involves actively attending to, gathering, maintaining, storing, and processing information (147, Siegler, 2010).” Adults can only store 7 (+/-) 2 “chunks” of information for 15-30 seconds in working memory however rehearsal is necessary in order to prevent loss of information.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
