What is the explanation for the thinning of the ozone layer that has been observed since the 1970s? CFC's and other ozone depleting chemicals in the ozone layer in the undergo a photochemical reaction that destroys ozone. 6. Is photochemical smog considered a primary pollutant or a secondary pollutant in the atmosphere? Why?
