In this paper I will be writing about lying as it applies to discrimination specifically. I will be using a film narrative 2010 to not only demonstrate the conflict that can arise from lying but that lying is encouraged and even supported legally by the American government. I will write about Thomas Hobbes and the rules of society as well as Glaucon. I will also include a personal Narrative about my personal experiences and how it involves my views with lying and discrimination. Narrative –film* 2010 Arthur C. Clarke (Author) Peter Hyams (Director) Film, 1984. Summary. In the sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, a joint American-Soviet expedition is sent to Jupiter to discover what went wrong with the U.S.S. Discovery against a backdrop of growing global tensions. Among the mysteries the expedition must explain are the appearance of huge black monolith in Jupiter’s orbit and the fate of H.A.L. the Discovery’s sentient computer. In 2001 the H.A.L. 9000 sentient computer of the Discovery caused the deaths of the scientists that were in a cryo-sleep as well as co-pilot Frank Poole before pilot David Bowman deactivated it. It was believed that H.A.L. had malfunctioned which he had but not for the reason originally thought. The reason H.A.L. had malfunctioned because he was instructed to not reveal any details of the true mission to the crew he was told to lie
