Mitchell Dwelley 3/01/07 CAS 415 Gone with the Wind For my reaction paper, I choose the last option which was ideas for research studies based on the readings/screenings. The research study that I choose to look at was how accurately they depict the slaves in gone with the wind. The story shows a historically accurate account of how brutal the treatment of freed slaves were. The story however doesn’t show an accurate account of how well the slaves were treated before emancipation. It was true that some white owners did treat their slaves well, but more often than not the rampant abuse of slaves in the south was well documented. Gone with the Wind by Margart Mitchell was about a southern girl who messes around with love during the civil war. Since, it was written during the time period of the civil war slaves are depicted in the book and movie. In the movie and book slaves are viewed in the eye of the Southern Plantation owner’s. In the story, house slaves such as Mammy and Pork are depicted as caring loving
