1 DIABETES HLST 320, Assignment 2 Introduction This paper is a handout about diabetes from www.cchrcHealth.org , titled Diabetes. Even though the original date of publication is not indicated, some important dates that links to its updated version is noted - Copy right @ 1994 Chinese Health Resource Center, revised in 2013. The handout talks about the diagnosis of diabetes, its symptoms, types, management and complications. I think the purpose of this handout is to inform, and educate diabetic patients on how to better manage their diabetes. Qualitative and quantitative criteria’s are both used in the information provided to form the base of its credibility and validity. Even though the information is presented using headings, sub headings, bold, and sequencing to separate and identify new information, it does not identify an age group with illustrations, and graphics to practically demonstrate its explanations. However, I think the writer successfully engages its readers, through its purpose which is to inform and educate. 1) Question 1 Qualitative Criteria It is an argument based on a subjective perspective. Information that is not based on facts, and as such cannot be verifiable. The establishment of qualitative criteria on this handout on Diabetes is based on credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability.

2 DIABETES In the handout, the information discussed has been researched, and it covers important information about diabetes. I consider the information to be credible, even though it is not from an educational website that ends with “edu”. The information is from an “org” website, focused on health and wellbeing. I also consider the information to be credible because it does not have unnecessary typos and spelling errors. The purpose of this handout as seen in the information provided is to educate diabetic patients. On the bottom page of the handout, it is also noted that the information was revised in 2013 which makes it current. I also consider the information to be in depth, and comprehensive. It comprises all the basic elements about diabetes- definition, diagnosis, symptoms, risk factors, types, management, and complications.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
