Dr. Stanton, some antibiotics like clindamycin, penicillins and fluroquinones can kill good bacterias in the intestinal walls, allowing C . difficile to multiply and release toxins that damage the cells lining the intestinal wall, causing diarrhea , abdominal pain, and fever resulting in antibiotic-associated diarrhea as well as C. difficile. C. difficile is a toxin-producing bacteria that causes antibiotic- associated colitis, which can occur after the antibiotic therapy upsets the balance of good and bad bacteria in your intestinal tract (WebMD, 2015). . The best thing for the health care provider to do at this time is to completely stop the anti biotic that allowed the infection to  develop. If an antibiotic is necessary to treat an ongoing infection,  the healthcare provider may choose an antibiotic that is less likely to allow further growth of  C. difficile like vancomycin or may be  flagly. The patient should be educated to complete the entire  course of treatment which is usually 10 to 14 days.  (WebMD, 2015).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
