Nathan John Latino Immigration Homework # 1 1. The United States is often described as a giant melting pot because of with time, generations of immigrants have melted together. These immigrants come from all different parts of the country, with that bringing their culture and native tongue. Even when the country was first founded, there were people here speaking German, French, Spanish, and Italian. Even though English is the dominant language, the United States can easily be classified as a multilingual country because of its diversity. Currently Spanish is a major language in America due to the number of people speak it as their first language. America has always been a multilingual country and will continue to be due to the growth of diversity. 2. Immigrants come to America and tend to live in neighbors of people of the same culture, which keeps their language alive. They constantly use their native tongue in an environment that they are comfortable with. However, they are forced to learn English as they try to find jobs and keep involved with outside activities such as politics.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
