Citizen United Vs. Federal Election Commision 2 Abstract The case was held on March 24, 2009, In the case, Citizen United vs. Federal Election Commission, citizen United had appealed Federal Election Commission (FEC) because of the district court required Citizen United to in charge for the movie “Hilary: The Movie.”. The movie was banned for relating to politicians’ election. However, the court decision had violated on their freedom of speech in First Amendment Right. On January 21, 2010, the U.S supreme court decides that the section 203 of the federal Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (2002) was invalidated. So that, corporation and Union can invest unlimited in “independent expenditures” and financing electioneering communication. After the decision, the laws affected immediately to stakeholders. Corporation and Labor Union: they received the benefits from the court. They are allowing to speak through political action committee. The decision removed a significant barrier to corporate political activity. There is no limit on their general treasury fund “electioneering communication” so long as they are not coordinate with candidates. Moreover, the giant companies, who would like to influence their welfares, could invest as much as they want if it does not violate the court’s decision. They can marketer who should we vote for and influenced economic, law, and policy by their relationship with candidates if they were proposed. However, Corporation is still prohibited from making direct contributions. The corporation and Union can
