The Enlightenment – A period where people were starting to think outside of the Catholic Church and its beliefs. 2. The American Revolution – A revolution that happened in America that separated the 13 colonies from the British. 1. During these times revolutions were changing how people viewed the world. The ideas of Enlightenment were based on freedom and the principals of human reason. 2. Because the French assisted with the separation of America, the French started to want freedom for themselves. This started the creation of the French declaration and their design of freedom. What events occurred during the French Revolution? 1. The Reign of Terror – A period where the French saw a lot of blood shed for the aristocrats.
