The acceptance of cohabitation, coupled with “stayovers” and recreational sex, have altered our idea of what an intimate relationship should look like. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 states, “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified; that you should avoid sexual immortality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God.” Yet I do not necessarily believe that intimate relationships outside of marriage need to be deemed unholy. I feel that now people must consider many things before deciding to get married, such as taxes, insurance, etc. that have nothing to do with love or commitment to one another....
