Mackenzie ThompsonSegment 1World History 1/4/1702.07 East Asia Postcard # 1Medieval JapanJapan has not always been the country it is today. Being in the location it is Japan has had to overcomenot only physical barriers but religious and political bouts as well. From adopting several versions of Buddhism from China to being influenced to conform to Confucianism many Japanese still practice and observe their ancient Shinto heritage and views. Today Shinto and Buddhism are widely practiced throughout all of Japan and actually complement each other quite harmoniously. The Japanese people practice Buddhism as does the majority of Asia. Many followers believe Buddhism is a way of finding peace within oneself. It is also a religion that helps one find happiness and contentment.
