Unformatted text preview: Addison Villanueba Student ID # 810-69-7903 Recitation # 203 Hunt Denies His Political Ties Aided Kurdish Pact Ray Hunt, Chief Executive of Hunt Oil, has recently come under fire being accused of using ties to President Bush in order to cut a deal allowing his company to explore oil in Iraq’s Kurdish region. The agreement has been criticized by the Bush Administration and Iraqi officials as undermining efforts to strengthen the war torn country’s central government and simply trying to benefit Hunt Oil. Mr. Hunt adimently claimed he did not use his political ties with President Bush in order to gain the deal he replied with, “ It’s another example where we’re able to move quickly when opportunity presents itself” and further explained that the Kurdish Oil Executives turned to him because of his oil-development in Yemen. Mr. Hunt furthered his argument of not using government help by saying, “ The fact is, as a matter of policy, we never have and never will go to the government of the U.S. and ask the government’s advice policy, we never have and never will go to the government of the U....
