He was the first person from Europe to discover North America. Although Columbus is credited for discovering the North America, evidence point that it was already discovered by Vikings. He believed that traveling there was a much shorter and easier way to reach Asia by way through the Atlantic Ocean. Christopher Columbus explorations and voyages resulted of colonization in the New World. Although he was able to claim new lands, like the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Dominican Republicand name them in the name of the Spanish Empire, Columbus has a mixed Legacy.Columbus was able to persuade Queen Isabella of Spain to fund his voyages.
