The attack on Pearl Harbor, happened on a Sunday morning, most were still asleep, eating breakfast of getting ready for church. On December 7, 1941, Sunday morning the Japanese made a surprise attack on the American Naval, at Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii. The attack was led by 353 Japanese aircrafts led by Commander Mitsuo Fuchida. The attack lasted only two hours but it was devastating. There was over 2300 people killed, and more than 3400 casualties. The first wave targeted airfields and battleships. The second wave targeted other ships and shipyard facilities. They destroyed every battle ship that was in Pearl Harbor.They were badly damaged or sunk but were eventually salvaged and repaired except for two, USS Arizona and USS Oklahoma. What were also damaged or sunk were three cruisers, three destroyers, and anti-aircraft training ship and one minelayer. 188 US aircrafts were also destroyed. American airfields were also struck, the Kaneohe Naval Air Station, Ewa Field, Schoefield Barracks, Wheeler Field and Hickam Field.
