Paulette Cole Cole 1 Professor Maxine Fuller CHFD220 July 15, 2017 Betty Boop Betty Boop is a female animated cartoon character in the 1920’s to 1930’s created by Max Fleischer. She is also known as Baby Boop. Betty Boop has a super cute catchphrase, “Boop-Boop-e- Doop-Bop’. Her age has been arguable but she is known to be between 13-16, and per Fleischer, she is 16 and always be 16. She has film series, comics and a huge line of merchandise. Betty Boop, is more drawn in by an adult crowd and is probably one of the first and most famous sex symbol. Even though Betty Boop was created with a cute baby face look, with big sparkly eyes and a childlike voice, they made her body very feminine and sexy. Her female cartoon character represents a very sexual female in my opinion. Her curves are clearly defining a womanly figure She wore a short dress that showed her cleavage and garter on her thigh. Betty Boop also had on high heels, which I think to every man and woman is sexy and gives a person an image of longer sexier legs. According to the text, psychological dimensions of sexuality is the clearest example of learned aspect of sexuality. Sexuality can be physical but it also involves psychology-our sense of being. The major psychological factor that affects our sexual wellness is body image. ( Greenburg, pg. 5) This is where Betty Boop comes in. Her body is an example of psychological aspect. A child looking at Betty Boop on Television may just see a girl character or cartoon figure. As adults, we see Betty Boop as a
