Psychoanalysis
Freud believed that
humans were
motivated by instincts,
or drives. The behaviors
that humans exhibit for
the satisfaction of
hunger, survival and sex
is compromised with
the ID and psychic
energy. A person’s ego
and superego is the
development of a
higher cognitive
process that helps
prevent the world
being chaotic. He
believes that
understanding the
world is on a person
psychological
processes, unconscious
and conscious which
create Psychic reality.
Psychic reality is an
individual perception of
the world.

The key concept is the
consciousness and
unconsciousness. The
consciousness are
feelings, thoughts and
behavior that people
are aware of that
motivate the individual.
The unconscious is the
true motivator that is
the underlying desires
and wants. The
consciousness is
represented as the
small portion of self
and the
unconsciousness is the
huge portion that
motivate behavior. The
unconscious repressed
material and memories
that will sustain a
negative emotional
charge and shove out
the consciousness to
protect the individual.
The preconscious, is
the memories.
Strength are people
that have western
values and effective
when working with
individuals who seek
such treatment and
not in dire straight.
Weakness is to
determine if a
measure change the
unconscious. How can
a person measure the
unknown?
The Therapeutic Techniques
that evolved to help the
facilitate deeper
understanding by clients.
Create a trusting atmosphere
makes the client feel free to
share their thoughts, feeling
and behavior that may be
shameful. The environment
must be safe to encourage
revelation. Free association is
when the client feels “free”
to associate to any thought
that edit or suppression of
what the client think is
irrelevant that can be
distressing to talk about
publicly. Free association can
reveal our true feelings and
desire that can occur in a
trusting environment.
Resistance have analysis or

unconscious. Client
resistance is a sign that the
client is close to dealing with
an unconscious issue.

reality. Although, a
person satisfying their
needs this may lead to
narcotic behavior as the
individual continues
with urges.
