World War ll The Treaty of Versailles after World War l was a huge part of what sent Europe, especially Germany in a tailspin. The economic fall of these countries that had to give up so much to the Treaty of Versailles they opened up for the dictatorship to take place. Adolf Hitler b ecame Reic h Chancellor of Germany in 1933. Hitler soon took over full control. He became the supreme leader in 1934. Hitler had this idea of a superior race, he began exterminating the Jewish race in the mid- 1930’s. Neville Chamberlin, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, wanted to appease Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Germany. Hitler wanted Sudetenland. Chamberlin of course gave Hitler what he wanted. Hitler being very charming could mostly get his way. When Chamberlin granted Hitler the land, Hitler agreed to not ask for any more land, that he only wanted the land because many Germans lived there. He soon aferwards sent troops to Austria and took over Czechoslovakia in 1938. Hitler, as the leader of Germany, and Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union, signed a Pact in August of 1939. It was the German-Soviet nonaggression Pact. The pact sent panic all through Europe. Hitler planned his invasion of Poland. With the thought of a possible invasion France and Britain had agreed to give Poland troops if the invasion did occur. The pact meant that the Soviets would help the Germans invade Poland. And ultimately help each other against any contenders. Hitler invaded Poland from the west on September 1, 1939. On this day, France and Britain declared war on Germany. This was the start of World War ll. Soviet troops invaded Poland from the east on September 17 th . Poland fell quickly after being attacked from both sides. The Germans and Soviets had divided and conquered Poland by the early 1940 s. With Hitler and Stalin s plan to take over the world Soviet troops went and fought the Russo- Finish War to occupy Finland, and rushed to take over Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia (the Baltic

States). During this time and the few months that followed Great Britain and Germany was in a battle at sea. What made this battle important was the fact that Germans had U-boats, or submarines that could destroy their enemies from the angle that normally could not be reached, this changed the war. Things completely changed when the Germans sunk one of the British supply ship, this ship was said to have many innocents on board, women and children. The Germans sunk over 100 of the British vessels with U-boats over these few months. Germany
