Solving Right Triangles
In this section we’ll solve right triangles, which means that you will find either lengths
and/or angle measures that are not given.
You’ll use any one of the six trigonometric
functions of an angle to do this.
Example 1:
In triangle ABC with right angle at angle C,

and AB measures
11 units.
Use the given angle and the given side to find the length of BC.
An
angle of elevation
is an angle that is formed by a horizontal ray and another ray
above the horizontal.
An
angle of depression
is an angle that is formed by a horizontal ray and another ray
