Baruch College – CUNY Zicklin School of Business Department of Marketing and International Business MARKETING 4493 – (ETR) Advertising & TV Production SYLLABUS, Spring 2017, (Tentative, Subject To Change) Instructor: Anthony Perrotto Tues; Thurs: 2:30-3:45 Room A-17 Lex; 713 Email: [email protected] (Never use my Baruch email) Office: B12-210 Office Hours: By appointment COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is designed to provide students with “hands on” television/video field production techniques. Students will learn the aesthetics and techniques of utilizing their smart phone to shoot videos, on-location, video recording, and postproduction editing. Includes practice in planning shoots, operating cameras, lighting, audio, and video editing. Students will produce video projects individually and in groups. Students are expected to spend considerable time outside of the normally scheduled class periods working on projects. Each student will need to learn video editing techniques using their I-Phones or Android. The different editing programs for each will be discussed. STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The student who successfully completes this course will be able to: Critically understand the theory and current practices of video production Demonstrate basic expertise video production Understand and produce a string of basic shots into a meaningful sequence. Demonstrate a working understanding of editing both for smart phones and computers Perform the basic camera moves and compositions. Recall definitions of basic video production terminology. Understand and operate a variety of microphones under various conditions, and audio Demonstrate a basic understanding of 3-point lighting. Learn the skills to coordinate (direct or produce) a video production Most importantly we will discuss and learn the language of filmmaking Professor’s Thoughts on Learning In Real Estate, the three key words are Location, Location, Location. In education, I believe that we learn by hearing ideas, topics, and explanations often. Therefore, my theory of education is Repetition, Repetition, Repetition. We do not need to memorize ideas, but when we hear them repeatedly we continue to reinforce the learning.
