2 This week we learned about present value of money and future value. One of the example we used in our discussion questions was corporate bonds. I used to work for the Federal Reserve Bank and one example I can think of is bonds. People who owned bonds would cash them out from time to time and the bank would have to figure out the value of the bond. If the bond was being cashed out before it’s maturity date then it would be worth less than face value. Whereas, is if the bond had reached its maturity date then the value would be more than face value and the amount would depend on how long the person had held onto the bond past the maturity date. Another thing we processed at the Federal Reserve was Canadian check and money orders. We had to do them separately to figure the value of the Canadian money in American dollars based on the current exchange rate. It normally changed a lot so we checked the value
