While reading the introduction to It’s Complicated by Dana Boyd, I made certain to use the advice and strategies provided in Everything’s a Text . Before I began to read, I made sure to have a highlighter and pen by my side, so as I read I could annotate and make notes. By doing this throughout the reading, I was easily able to access any information I deemed to be important. Rather than wasting time and looking for any information I needed, the notes and annotations I made on the side of the text allowed me to find what I was looking for much quicker. Before I annotated and took notes, I read through the assigned pages once. Then I decided to read i t through again, it was after reading it once already that I decided to make notes and annotations. Reading the passage more than once not allowed me to take better notes and make annotations, it served a greater purpose, it allowed me to truthfully understand the message the author was relaying. I found it much easier to understand the material as I read
