Objective: The objective of this experiment was to gather information of in situ soil, we were asked to identify what soil was below the test location and figure out if the soil sample consists of multiply soil layers. The DCP consists of a shaft with a 17.6 lbs. hammer, which is lifted and dropped such that the shaft penetrates the soil. Together, the number of blows and rod readings gives us the information such as DPI, cumulative depth and CBR. The test is commonly conducted identify soil type and shear strength of the soil.
