The beginning sentence of King’s work provides a revision from his editor where he had described the gymnasium as “well loved” (294). This edit can be justified by the rationale that the gymnasium needed no extra description because it was followed by more adjectives to describe the astounding performance. Using adjectives to describe the gym might have taken away from the focus of the sentence. I would not have taken out King’s description of the basketball player “known as ‘Bullet’ Bob for both his size and accuracy” (294) because his use of adjectives helped to emphasize and support his point that Bob was an unsurpassed player in terms of his athleticism. I support Gould’s revision of marking out “knight like” (294) when King described Bob’s basketball “quest” (294). This explanation didn’t add to his description. Gould’s instruction to King was taken with a teachable spirit. King was extremely grateful for the
