The objective of this assignment is to discuss certain actions be they good or bad that managers may take when investors have high expectations and managers wish to outperform peers on Total Returns to Shareholders (TRS). This assignment will also answer the question as to whether all of the current investors in a company (e.g., Target) earn the same return on the capital from their investments, as well as give reasons to justify the answer. Lastly the assignment will assess TRS and the ability of a company to meet expectations. Based on these expectations, once meet by a company’s performance, how will TRS react in theory and in practice and what will be some reasons for these reactions. According to McKinsey on Finance (2007) there are four positive practices that business managers may take to meet investors’ expectations as well as to outperform peers on TRS. These
