Ryan L. Barnes Monologue Throughout my life, there have been many things that have influenced me. Some of the things were natural such as my parents, and some things were meant to influence me, such as the Army. Everyone has occurrences of things that influence him or her in a negative way and I try block out those negative influences, but sometimes they are hard when the source of the influence is someone that you trust. When I was younger, I had a hard time of being my own person, so everything I saw had an influence on me in one way or another. One of the first positive influences in my life was my grandpa. He came from very humble beginnings living on a farm in Odin Kansas with eleven brothers and sisters. His family did not have much, but they made due. It may go without saying that his family is Catholic and are very religious. This instilled important values and morals in all the children. My grandpa had the discipline and dedication to play baseball and become very good at it, being recruited by the New York Dodgers.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
