The image above is a still originally shown in the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory . It depicts Gene Wilder in the titular role and, given his relaxed posture and amused-but- bored facial expression, has become appropriated and used as a meme in any number of different ways. Literally anything anyone can think of can be adapted into a version of this; meme generators abound where anyone can put any caption they like on this (or really any other) image. We see the same thing often when it comes to films, film clips, video games, music, television shows, gifs, etc. In 1989, rapper Vanilla Ice came out with a song titled “Ice, Ice Baby”; the beat and notes of the song's introduction mimicked almost exactly the 1981 song “Under Pressure”, which was a musical collaboration between Queen and David Bowie. Vanilla Ice claimed that, since he added an extra beat between two notes of the base line of his song, it was distinctive from the Queen/Bowie tune.
