It is important for Christians to have a basic knowledge of psychology because it affects us in every area of our lives. If I were to lead a seminar I would highlight three concepts: Impression formation, cognitive dissonance, and groupthink. All of these concepts can be seen and used in our daily lives. First I would speak about impression formation. Impression formation describes how we decide what we think about a person with the first couple of seconds that we meet them (Nevid, 2015 P. 446). This is very important for a Christian to understand because within seconds of us meeting someone they have formed an impression of us. Our impressions should call people’s attention to Christ with how we act. I John 2:6 says, “whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked.” (ESV) We need to live our lives in a way that shows people that we are different. We are lights in the world leading people to Christ. This is why our first impressions need to be full of light and God’s love.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
