Decantation : “a chemical laboratory process used to separate mixtures” according to our lab manual. After using a centrifuge the solid and supernatant solutions are separated. When transferring to a new test tube the two substances are visible. b. Contamination : according to dictionary.com, contamination is “the act of contaminating or of making something impure or unsuitable by contact with something unclean, bad, ect.” In this procedure, contamination could occur if one substance is mixed accidentally with another. c. Centrifugation : a centrifuge rotates at high speed and by centrifugal force. It separates substances of different densities; into the supernatant and precipitate.
